"Abuzar was among some contract killers hired by Dinesh Kumar Mittal, the brother-in-law of victim Arun Gupta. Mittal and five others have already been arrested in the past," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
The incident had taken place on April 7, 2008, around 10.30 am when Arun Gupta, the son-in-law of the owner of Mittal Farms in Mehrauli, was going to office in his car.
When he was about 100 yard away from his house and had reached near Iron Gate of E-block, Kalkaji, a motorcycle rammed into his car. The businessman asked the motorcyclist to remove it. Meanwhile, two persons with firearms surrounded the car and the person on right side of the car shot at him but it missed Gupta.
"Gupta drove toward the roundabout of B-block, Kalkaji to escape from the assailants. However, his car got stuck in a traffic jam at the roundabout. In the meantime, a person ran toward him and shot him at point-blank range. After killing him, the assailants escaped from the spot on the motorcycle," said Yadav.
During investigation, it was revealed that Dinesh had planned the murder over property dispute. He had hired contract killers to eliminate his brother-in-law and sister at a rate of Rs 10 lakh. However, the killers could not kill Dinesh's sister.
