An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police and another person were arrested in Keonjhar by Odisha's anti-graft vigilance sleuths for allegedly accepting Rs 7,000 bribe from a man.
Prasanna Kumar Sahu, ASI in Ghatgaon Police Station in Keonjhar and Ashish Kumar Behera, who assisted the ASI in his official work, had demanded Rs 7,000 from Pramod Giri, whose motor-cycle had also been forcibly taken away by the police official, a vigilance statement said.
Acting on a complaint, a trap was laid yesterday and Behera along with Sahu were caught red-handed by vigilance officers in front of the main gate of Ghatagaon Police Station while accepting Rs 7,000 bribe from Giri, it said.

As per the direction of the ASI, the complainant gave the amount to Behera who handed it over to Sahu. The amount was recovered and both Sahu and Behera were arrested.
The motorcycle of the complainant, that was confiscated by the ASI, has been seized from the barrack of the Police Station.
The barrack of Ghatagaon Police Station, where the ASI is staying and the rented house at Baragarh where his family members live are being searched, the release added.
