A 65-year-old man was allegedly beaten up by a sub-inspector while standing in queue to withdraw cash from a bank in Barari here, following which the police official has been suspended, police said today.

Ram Sanehi Yadav was suspended yesterday for allegedly "beating up" Than Singh when he was standing in queue at a bank branch here to withdraw money, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohit Gupta said

"An eyewitness said Singh had an argument with a few people who forced their way in and threw him out of the queue yesterday. Yadav then asked Singh to stand at the end of the line. When he protested, he was allegedly beaten up by the former," Gupta said.

A departmental probe has been ordered against the sub-inspector, the SSP said.
