Cop thrashed after objecting to eve-teasing of daughter

A GRP head constable was allegedly thrashed by a group of youths here after he objected to their eve-teasing of his daughter, police said.

According to police, in the incident which took place this evening in the GTB Nagar area, Gurmeet Singh, a head constable with Government Railway Police (GRP), was thrashed by a group of youths.

Gurmeet was accompanying his 15-year-old daughter on her way back from tuition when a youth allegedly passed some objectionable comment at her.

As Gurmeet protested, a group of the youth's friends gathered at the spot and proceeded to beat him up.

Police said that an injured Gurmeet has been admitted for treatment at a hospital and an inquiry is on into the matter.
