Copper prices drifted lower by 0.26 per cent to Rs 429.30 per kg in futures trade today as participants reduced positions amid muted demand at the domestic spot markets.

Besides, profit-booking too weighed on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November shed Rs 1.10, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 429.30 per kg in a business turnover of 51 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August fell by Rs 1.05, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 420.90 per kg in 396 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders due to weak demand at the spot markets amid profit-booking led to decline in copper futures.
