Copper, nickel strengthen on scattered demand

Prices of and edged up by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metals market on Monday on the back of mild demand from consuming industries.

Traders said some demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, mainly attributed the rise in prices.

However, activity remained restricted as enquiries from neighbouring states remained negligible due to 'Bharat Bandh' call given by the party and several other parties against rising fuel prices, they added.

In the national capital, mixed and plate (4x4) were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 445 and Rs per kg, respectively.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 141-147, plate (4x4) Rs 936-938, gun Rs 227,

bell Rs 229, mixed scrap Rs 445, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 148, lead imported Rs 155, aluminium ingots Rs 170, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 166, aluminium wire scrap Rs 166 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 164.
