Copper prices hardened by 0.82 per cent to Rs 425.25 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday as speculators built up fresh positions taking positive cues on pick up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February 2019 rose by Rs 3.45, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 425.25 per kg in business turnover of 111 lots.

Similarly, the metal for November gained Rs 3.25, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 419 per kg in 14,327 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants after uptick in demand from consuming industries mainly pushed up copper prices at futures trade.
