Copra firms up on persistent demand

Copra prices firmed up at the spices market here today on persistent demand from stockists and retailers coupled with forthcoming festival demand amid restricted arrivals.

Rest all other prices held steady in the absence of any major buying.

Copra office Alappuzha and copra office Kozhikode surged by Rs 200 per quintal each to Rs 11,200 and Rs 11,000 from Thursday's close Rs 11,000 and Rs 10,800, respectively.

Copra edible Mumbai rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 12,300 as compared Rs 12,200 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 490/580 (490/580), ginger unbleached (per kg) 123 (123), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 11,200 (11,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,000 (10,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 13,000 (13,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,300 (12,200).
