State Election Commission has cancelled the election of a councillor of Sasaram in Bihar for hiding information about his children.

"It was found that councillor of ward number 25 of Sasaram Municipal Corporation, Ravi Shankar Kumar, hided information about his third child and therefore his election has been cancelled," Commissioner of State Election Commission H C Sirohi told PTI today.

According to a notified order passed by State Election Commission, any person having more than two children after April 1, 2008, is not eligible to contest poll to local bodies.

Acting on a complaint lodged by Ram Chandra Ram that the councillor had hided the fact that his third child was born on March 4, 2008, the commission conducted inquiry and ordered cancellation of his election, Sirohi said.

The commission has also ordered District Magistrate to lodge an FIR against the councillor under section 447 of Municipal Law and relevant sections of IPC with local police station.

The Councillor told PTI at Sasaram, the headquarters of Rohtas district, that he would soon challenge the order of the commission in Patna High Court.
