Couple booked for abetting suicide

A couple has been booked for abetting suicide of a 50-year-old man, against whom they had made allegations of rape, police said here today.

According to police, Chanchal Rathod had filed a complaint of rape against Roopkishore Agrawal, a financier, in December last year.

However, during the trial, she retracted from her statement.

Agrawal, who later got bail, hanged himself at his residence on March 17 allegedly due to the mental agony he faced due to the false rape charges, police said, adding that Chanchal and her husband Sunil Rathod have been booked for abetting the suicide of the man.
