: A debt ridden man and his wife allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves on the same rope from the ceiling of their house at Sundarapuram in the outskirts of the city today.
Police said Sathyanathan (35), a petty shop owner had borrowed heavily to expand his business and struggled to repay the amount.
They said his brother broke open the door on hearing the couple's children crying inside and finding that the door had not been opened since and found the dead bodies.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem to Government hospital here.
