A Dhanbad court today granted permission to the jailed Jharia MLA, Sanjiv Singh to cast his vote in the July 17 presidential election at state assembly in Ranchi.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajiv Ranjan gave permission to BJP MLA Singh to cast his vote on a plea made by him.

Singh had applied to the court yesterday for permission. He had also applied through Birsa Munda jail authorities in Ranchi. The court heard both the petitions and allowed him to vote.

Singh is at present lodged at Birsa Munda Jail, Ranchi. He is an accused in the murder case of Congress leader and former Dhanbad Mayor Neeraj Singh.
