: Saji Cheiryan and C K Saseendran were today unanimously elected as secretaries of CPI(M)'s Alappuzha and Wayanad district committees, party sources said.
While Cheriyan replaces C V Chandrababu in the politically sensitive Aalppuzha, Saseendran is getting the third term in the post.
Both of them entered politics through the party's campus wing SFI and held positions in youth outfit DYFI before rising as district functionaries.

Though there had been reports of factional tussles in Alappuzha, home district of party stalwart and former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, the CPI(M) leadership denied media reports in this regard.
These were the first two districts to hold conferences as the triennial organisational exercise began a few months back down from the grassroot level committees across the state.
After the conclusion of the conferences in the remaining districts, the state meet will be held in Alappuzha next month, when present state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan will step down as he has already completed three terms in the key organisational post.
