CPI(M) leader arrested

A CPI(M) leader was today arrested for allegedly attacking with arms some Trinamool Congress (TC) workers here last week, police said.

Bhatar Zonal Secretary of CPI(M) Bamacharan Banerjee was rounded up from his residence in Bhatar area this morning, DSP (crime) Kazi Samsuddin Ahmed said.

Banerjee allegedly attacked some TC workers while he was leading a procession on January 7 in Bardhaman town. He had been absconding since then, Ahmed said.
