Responding to a question raised in the assembly during question hour by Trinamool Congress member Laeta Umbrey, he quoted statistics of the report prepared by Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW).

He told the house that 190 cases of atrocities against women were reported in the state during 2010, while the numbers in 2011 was 171 and that till August 2012 was 122.

The cases reported in the state were rape, kidnapping, molestation, sexual harassment and domestic violence.

Tuki informed that the government had already established anti-human trafficking units in three district headquarters namely Itanagar, Pasighat and Tezu, while three would be established soon at Daporijo, Seppa and Changlang.

"The DIG (Crime) has been made the nodal officer of these units," he said.

Tuki said, APSCW last month submitted a memorandum to him demanding appointment of child marriage prevention officer under Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2006 in order to check child marriage.

The other demands of the memorandum includes, non-grant of bail in crimes like rape and murder, security to victims and their families, recruitment of more police personnel and opening of separate women cell in every police station to handle cases relating to women.
