Criminals held, arms seized in police raids in northwest Pak

Police in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have apprehended over 7,000 criminals and seized huge quantity of narcotics and arms during targeted operations in the last two months.

The police conducted raids in different districts of the northwestern province and arrested 7,858 accused criminals after the provincial police chief ordered initiation of operations against proclaimed offenders, saboteurs and other anti social elements.

The operations will continue against the criminal elements till their total elimination, police said.

Arms and drugs seized during the operation included 14,858 kilos of explosives, Kalashnikovs, shotguns, rifles, hand grenades, over 2 lakh cartridges of different bores, rocket launchers, detonators, IEDs along with 3,695 kilos of charas, and 91 kilos of heroin.
