With today's step, the total number of bunkers removed from the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir has touched 44 in the last two years.

"The CRPF bunker at Amira Kadal bridge has been vacated by the paramilitary forces," a police spokesman said.

As part of the recommendations of the All Party delegation, which visited Kashmir Valley at the peak of 2010 summer unrest, the government has removed 44 bunkers from various parts of the city.

The aim is to reduce the foot-prints of security forces from areas where they are no longer required.
