Cuddalore Municipal Chairman resigns

Chairman of Cuddalore Municipality C K Subramani of AIADMK today resigned from his post citing "personal" reasons, an official said.

Zonal Director of Municipalities Prema, incharge of Cuddalore and neighbouring districts, told reporters here Subramani handed over the resignation letter to her.

His resignation comes in the backdrop of the attack on Municipal Commissioner P Kalimuthuby unidentified persons on August 23 here.

The Commissioner, who sustained serious injuries in the attack by three masked men during morning walk, was undergoing treatment at a hospital here.

No arrest has been made in connection with the attack so far.

Meanwhile, protesting police "inaction" to arrest the culprits, the municipal staff boycotted work today, officials said.
