Customs inspector commits suicide

Apparently upset over separation from his wife, who moved to her paternal house, a 45-year-old customs inspector allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his residence here.

Satish Gautam, posted as customs inspector at Lucknow's Amausi Airport was found hanging last night at his Dada Nagar Colony residence here by his sister, police said today.

His family members told the police that Satish was an alcoholic and a drug addict. He used beat his wife Pramila after getting drunk.

Fed up with Satish's drinking habits, Pramila along with her son moved to her paternal house five months ago, the family members said, adding, his mental condition deteriorated since then and he started consuming more alcohol.
 

No suicide note has been recovered from the spot and investigation in the case is on, police said.
