Two persons were today arrested at the airport for attempting to smuggle gold biscuits worth Rs 63 lakh from Dubai, customs officials said.
Saifuddeen Ahmed (41) and Abdul Nasar (40), both hailing from Manjeri in Malappuram district, had concealed the gold biscuits, totally weighing 2.3 kg, in their rectum, customs officials said.
The two, who arrived here by an Indigo flight this morning, had been arrested after a team of customs officials led by Assistant Commissioner S P Shyamsundhar, Superintendents Balagopal G, Gireesh Babu P and Rejith T A made the seizure on specific intelligence inputs, they added.
