Daily wagers of Noida Authority challenge direct recruitment,

Press Trust of India Allahabad
Allahabad High Court today asked Noida Authority to file its counter-affidavit on a petition, filed by over 100 Class IV employees working there on daily wage basis, challenging the process of filling up of vacancies through direct recruitment overlooking their requests for regularisation.

Passing the order, Justice Vivek Kumar Birla fixed July 6 as the next date of hearing in the matter and restrained the Noida Authority from declaring the results of the impugned selection process.

The petitioners -- Vikash Kumar and 108 others -- had submitted through their counsel Mahesh Sharma that they had been working as daily wagers for long, some of them since as early as the 1980s, and that their representations for regularisation were pending before the state government as well as the Noida Authority.

They further submitted that they felt aggrieved when the Noida Authority, without taking any decision on their demands, initiated the process for filling up vacant posts through "direct recruitment".
