Dalit girl raped in UP village

A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a man at a village in Jahanabad area here, police said today.

The girl yesterday went to a field where Mukesh (24) caught hold of her and raped her, they said.

Later, the victim's family members lodged a complaint on the basis of which an FIR was registered in this connection.

"The girl has been sent for medical examination and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused," Circle Officer Jagat Ram Joshi said.
