Dalit man found murdered in field

A bullet-ridden body of a 40-year-old Dalit man was found today in Bhupkheri village of the district, police said.

The body was found in a field in the area, SP Rakesh Jolly said, adding an old enmity is suspected to be the reason behind murder.

A case has been registered against six persons and the body has been sent for postmortem, police said.

Enraged over the incident, some locals protested and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.

Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any untoward incident, the SP said.
