Out of it, a total 4,636 hectares would be irrigated in 54 villages from Gawai barrage, while 4,200 hectares would get irrigation facility in 27 villages of Khudia vier, an official release said here.

About two lakh farmers would benefit from the two projects worth Rs 200.72 crore approximately, the release said.

Laying the foundation stones on-line from his residence here, Das said the water resources department was working on long pending projects.

The state government has taken a decision to renovate small projects, he said adding, farmers would get benefit from them as irrigation would cover larger lands.

On completion of the projects, the farmers would get employment in the state and they need not migrate to other states for employment, Das said.
