Decomposed carcass of 15-year-old elephant found

The highly decoposed body of a 15-year-old elephant was found near Thengumarada, some 60 km from here today.

Villagers at Kookkalthoraihalla spotted the carcass and informed forest department officials.

The officials,along with a veterinarian rushed to the spot and carried out a post-mortem, department sources said.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the death of the pachyderm could be due to lack of food and water, they said.
