Delhi Chief Secretary and Police Commissioner were today asked by a court here to explain why they have not complied with its order to identify Bangladeshi nationals, who are staying here illegally, and to deport them back.

Additional Session Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri has also sought an explanation from the Director FRRO (Foreigner Regional Registration Offices) on a plea by an advocate alleging non-compliance of the court's earlier order.

"Response of Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) was called for today on the application in hands. As per the APP, he has no knowledge whether any action has been taken by the respondents on the direction given by this court...

"Let explanation i.E. Commissioner of Police (Delhi), Chief Secretary of Government of NCT (Delhi), and Director FRRO be called for next date," the court said, while directing them to file their responses by August 19.

While sentencing four Bangladeshi nationals to 13 years in jail for committing a robbery in south Delhi, the court had in April directed Delhi government to identify and deport all foreigners living illegally in the national capital.
