Delhi Congress marks Quit India movement anniversary

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) today commemorated the historic Quit India movement by paying obeisance to freedom fighters at an event in Old Delhi here.

DPCC chief Ajay Maken, flanked by senior leaders of the party's state unit, hoisted the tricolour at the Town Hall at Chandni Chowk to mark the 73rd anniversary of the movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942.

Hailing the contribution of the Indian National Congress, Maken said that the party had brought all sections of people together "to drive away the British".

Meanwhile, the Indian Youth Congress celebrated its foundation day at an event attended by its president Amarinder Singh Raja.
 

Raja unfurled the party flag at the youth wing's headquarters at Raisina Road gave Youth Congress oath to the workers.

He said that over the last seven months, he had "established" connect with the cadres and that IYC is committed to the youth of the nation.
