In order to encourage people not to use their personal vehicles on 'Car-Free Day', Delhi government today organised an awareness programme on the road stretch between Red Fort and India Gate.
A senior government official said that as many as 400 volunteers, who started awareness drive at 10 AM today, also distributed pamphlets - ' Ab Bus Karein' - 'Car-Free Day' - to people and requested them to participate in the programme in large numbers.
The awareness drive ended at 4 PM which went through several areas - Ballimaran, Matia Mahal and Darya Ganj etc - where volunteers encouraged the people to use public transport between Red Fort and India on October 22, the official said.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also participate in a 'Cycle Rally' to be held on the day of 'Car-Free Day'.
Government will deploy as many as 20 DTC buses as shuttle service on this stretch. Besides, government will also arrange e-rickshaws on this route so that people don't have to face problem, official added.
