Delhi, Haryana police foil murder bid on student, arrest 4

In a joint operation, Delhi and Haryana police today foiled a plan to murder an university student in Rohtak by arresting four men allegedly belonging to an inter-state gang.

According to the police, Jagdeep alias Deepak(30), Sandeep (21), Anil Kumar(24), Raj Kamal(26), all natives of Haryana, were apprehended after a brief encounter carried out jointly by officials of Delhi and Haryana police in Rohtak today, police said adding one head constable sustained injuries in the encounter.

A large number of weapons including, three sophisticated .32 bore pistols with 18 live cartridges and three fired cartridges, along with one country-made .315 bore pistol with two live cartridges were recovered from them, police said.
 

"The arrested men are part of an inter-state gang headed by notorious gangster Manoj Morkheri who is currently lodged in a jail in Gurgaon," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Ravindra Yadav.

He said it was Mokheri who had arranged these men to murder one Praveen, a student of Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak. He is running his gang from jail, he added.
