Demo before CU vice-chancellor's chamber

Students of new law college hostel affiliated under Calcutta University held a sit-in demonstration before Calcutta University Vice Chancellor's chamber today.

The students were alleging the authorities did not act on a letter alleging ragging of four freshers by senior hostel inmates on November 9.

The sit-in was lifted after several hours when the authorities promised to look into their allegations.

Varsity officials said the allegations were being probed and appropriate action taken.
