The process of demolition of illegally constructed top two floors of a four-storey building in the city, the scene of a fire which had claimed four lives in April last, began today.
A massive fire broke out in the office of the stock broking firm on third floor of the building on April 25, killing four women and injuring about 10.
The demolition process of the top two floors, built without plan approval, began as per a Madras High Court order.

Earlier, the owner had obtained a stay from the court agaisnt demolition.
Officials from the city corporation and Local Planning Authority, started the process this morning, in the presence of large number of police personnel.
