Deputy mukhiya shot dead

dead by unidentified assailants in Nawada district, police said today.

The deceased, identified as Dashrath Kewat, deputy mukhiya of Ghora panchayat and a rural medical practitioner, was shot dead by the assailants last night while he was on way to his native place after attending a patient in a village, sources said.

The police took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem, they said adding the motive behind the murder was under investigation.
