Devotee dies at temple

A 60-year-old devotee from Chennai fainted and died while entering the "Nazhikettan Vasal" (gate) at Srirangam Sri Rangathaswamy temple here, official sources said here today.

Viravan, a retired jail warden, had come to offer worship at the temple on the occasion of the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival and had been staying in Srirangam since December 30.

He had fainted while entering Nazhikettan vasal yesterday. The temple priests later performed "Panchakavya Proksham and other Parikaara Poojas (Purification Poojas).
