The Madras High Court bench here today directed the Government Pleader to get instructions from Tamil Nadu government over a writ petition seeking to restrain Dr C Vamsadhara from functioning as the Director of Medical Education.

The petitioner, G Marimuthu, in his petition submitted that Vamsadhara had been working as Professor of Pharmacology at Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai in 2007.

But she had given a "false declaration" to the Secretary of Health that she was Professor at the Government Medical College at Theni in 2007.

Alleging that Vamsadhara had violated professional conduct and ethics, Marimuthu also sought that the court take suitable action for "her act of impersonation" and remove her name permanently from the record of State Medical Council register and Medical Council of India register.

The Registrar of the Tamil Nadu Medical Council had forwarded a complaint in the matter against Vamsadhara to the Secretary of the Medical Council of India.

But no action has been taken so far. Hence, the court should intervene and grant an interim injunction restraining her from functioning in the post and also take action against her for impersonation, Marimuthu said.

A Division Bench of Justices Jayachandran and N Venugopal asked the Government Pleader to get instructions from the government on the matter.
