: CPI today described as 'half hearted and customary," assurances by DMK and AIADMK that they would implement prohibition in the state if elected to power.
"While the PWF-DMDK-TMC combine is pitching for total prohibition, DMK and AIADMK are making half-hearted announcements on the same," CPI leader and former state secretary D Pandian told reporters here.
He further alleged that the dravidian parties were encouraging corruption among bureaucrats and politicians.

Censuring BJP over its poll promise on prohibition, he asked, "If BJP was really interested in bringing in prohibition in Tamil Nadu, why don't they pass an Act in Parliament and implement the same in the state."
Meanwhile, reacting to DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's statement on succession, Pandian said the DMK President's statement that his son M K Stalin would be Chief Minister after him if the party is voted to power only proved that he was favouring family rule.
On the freebies culture, he said both DMK and AIADMK have given freebies to the public out of taxpayer's money. So people should realise that both parties were not doing any favors, but using their money for political mileage.
