Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani today accused the DMK of attempting to capture power through the 'back door' by creating confusion.

However, the AIADMK MLAs remained united and saved the government and the party, he told reporters here referring to the political situation that prevailed in the state prior to the Palaniswami government was sworn in and won the Trust Vote in assembly.

Velumani said many eyebrows were raised during the political situation after the death of late chief minister Jayalalithaa and also during the Trust Vote.

DMK wanted to displace the AIADMK government and with help of modern technology, they conspired to create confusion and capture power through back door, he alleged.

Stating that Jayalalithaa had announced several schemes for the benefit of the State and the people, he said to fulfil the promises made by her, the AIADMK government should continue.

To ensure this, all the MLAs stood united, he said and expressed hope that those who had left the party would return soon.

Earlier, he attended a meeting of party workers to discuss about the celebration of Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary.
