The ruling AIADMK today alleged that a DMK MLA had "insulted" Speaker P Dhanapal, and charged party Treasurer and Opposition Leader in Tamil Nadu Assembly MK Stalin with not acting againt the legislator although he was also present in the scene.

Finance Minister O Panneerselvam said Stalin had gone to the Speaker's chamber to take up some demand with his party colleagues when DMK member J Anbazhagan allegedly "insulted" Dhanapal by using unsavoury language against him.

"Stalin had remained silent, not taking note of the issue. The Speaker regretted the incident when he told this to me," he said in a statement here.

"Shouldn't Stalin have reprimanded Anbazhagan for speaking in such language? Is it how ethos are upheld," he asked.
