A group of doctors and paramedical staff of the Jammu and Kashmir health department today said the charges of sexual molestation levelled by a nurse against four department officials were part of a "conspiracy", and demanded an impartial probe into the issue.

"We strongly refute the allegations levelled against the officials on the basis of an enquiry conducted by a high-level team of the association," a representative of the Joint Amalgam of Doctors and Paramedical Associations (JADPA) told reporters here.

The allegations were part of a conspiracy, the representative said.

The amalgam demanded an impartial probe into the allegations, saying stringent punishment be given to the officials if they are found guilty.

On Thursday, police registered a case against the four health department officials following a complaint by the nurse that they had tried to rape her. The nurse alleged that she had been facing sexual harassment over the past three months.
