The Dakshina Kannada district administration has directed medical officers of the primary health centres in the district to personally visit the homes of endosulfan victims to provide treatment.
According to official sources, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim has asked medical officers of the 47 primary health centres in the district to visit 186 endosulfan-affected patients, who have various disabilities caused by endosulfan spraying and are bed-ridden.
The doctors have been asked to submit a report on the health condition of the patients after providing treatment. An official level meeting was held here yesterday to review the progress of the rehabilitation programme for endosulfan victims in DK district..
The sources said the DK district had 3,107 endosulfan victims of which 186 patients are bedridden and unable to move about. A total of 23 endosulfan-hit patients died last year.
