Doctors should not commercialise profession: Pondy CS

Doctors should ensure that they did not commercialise their profession as they were 'messengers of God," Puducherry Chief Secretary Manoj Parida said today.

Addressing the new batch of students admitted to MBBS course in premier health institute JIPMER at the foundation course for freshers, he said "doctors should not commercialise their profession as they are messengers of God and should servethe patients with utmost dedication."

Parida also stressed that doctors should learn professional skills and principles of life.

He asked the new batch of students to make use of the "world class facilities" available in JIPMER to update their skills.
 

JIPMER Director S C Parija and Coordinator of the foundation course Dr Kadambari were among those present.

A total of 200 students have joined the MBBS course this year in JIPMER, which has 150 seats in its main campus here and 50 in its Karaikal annexe, set up recently.
