DoNER secy stresses on timely execution of ongoing projects

Department of North Eeast Region (DoNER) Secretary R Vijay Kumar arrived here today on a four-day visit to the state to review the projects implemented in the state under the ministry, NLCPR and NEC.

Speaking at a review meeting with all heads of departments led by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi here, Kumar stressed on timely execution of schemes and projects to benefit the common masses, specially at the grass root, an official statement said.

"Short term schemes will ease the sufferings of people and make them happy," he said.

The meeting was attended by senior officers including commissioners, secretaries and directors of all departments implementing DoNER, NLCPR and NEC funded schemes, the release said.
 

State Planning Secretary Sonam Chombay gave a brief presentation on the profile of the state highlighting socio-economic sectors, state health profile, infrastructure, literacy rate, agriculture, horticulture and projects under the Prime Minister's special package.

Earlier, the DoNER secretary inspected the state Civil Secretariat and Assembly buildings and later in the day called on Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma and discussed issues relating to connectivity and other sectors, which required special focus in the state.

The Governor said the ministry had to provide special focus on road, railway and air connectivity in the state for all round development, the release said.

He said lack of connectivity was the biggest hurdle to development in the region and was holding up unlocking of the region's vast economic potential and suggested upgrading state and district hospitals with DoNER support.

During his tour, Kumar would inspect some of the major DoNER funded projects including Soochna Bhawan at Papu Nallah, water supply project at Yupia, Ranganadi hydro power project, besides visiting Ziro and Tawang where he would hold meetings with the DCs and district officers, the statement added.
