Dozen houses gutted in fire

A dozen houses were gutted in a

fire at Hariyabala in Bihar's Araria district today, police said.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of a thatched house during cooking and soon spread to adjoining areas razing down a dozen houses.

Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames, they said, adding property worth lakhs of rupees had been damaged in the fire.
