The draft electoral roll for the upcoming local body polls in Tamil Nadu will be released on September 1, State Election Commissioner P Seetharaman said today.
Preliminary works such as identifying the booths, ascertaining the number of electronic voting machines (EVMs) required etc. Have been completed, Seetharaman, who was here for a review meeting on the preparedness for the polls, told reporters.
Security arrangements would be put in place for the smooth conduct of the polls and extra forces would be deployed at the sensitive booths, he added.
District Collector TN Hariharan, City Police Commissioner A Amalraj and officials from the election and police departments took part in the meeting.
