In a case of road rage, a 30-year-old driver was beaten to death after his bus collided with an auto at the Kunwar Singh crossing area here, police said today.
Ashok Kumar, driver of a private school bus, was severely beaten up by the auto driver and his accomplices after the collision yesterday, they said, adding the driver succumbed to his injuries at a hospital this morning.
Enraged over the incident, the locals staged a protest by placing the body of the driver outside the school in Amrapali village and blocked traffic on the Ballia-Baria road, police said.
The protesters demanded that a case be lodged and sought compensation for the family of the deceased, they said.
However, the senior officials soon reached the spot and pacified the protesters.
The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem.
