Driver dies after assaulted by fellow Grameen Sewa drivers

A 26-year-old driver of a Grameen Seva Vehicle succumbed today after he was attacked allegedly by fellow drivers at his home late last night following an argument over picking up of passengers, police said.

The deceased, identified as Naushad, used to drive his vehicle on Balaji Chowk-Uttam Nagar route.

According to the police, a group of men stated to be fellow drivers had an argument with Naushad over picking up of passengers, barged in his home and thrashed him with blunt objects.

After the attackers fled from the spot, police got a call and took Naushad to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and filed a case of attempt to murder in this regard.
 

However, the victim succumbed to his injuries in this morning, following which the charge was changed into murder.

Two people, identified as Rahul (28) and Vinod (25), have been arrested in this connection efforts are on to nab their other accomplices, police said.
