DRT recovery officer, aide in CBI net for corruption

CBI sleuths today arrested a recovery officer attached to the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) and his aide for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 7 lakh as bribe to be paid through cheque.
Recovery officer B S Sane had demanded the amount after he released a payment in favour of the complainant's client, said the official.
The officer asked the complainant to make the bribe payment through a cheque which was to be handed over to a person, identified as Vijay, said the official.

The complainant then approached CBI which laid a trap at the DRT's Mumbai office and arrested Sane and Vijay, the official said.
The CBI has registered a case against the duo.
They conducted searches at Sane's office and residence, in which papers of fixed deposits of Rs 65 lakh, Kisan Vikas Patra of Rs 9 lakh and property documents were recovered, he said.
The arrested accused were remanded to police custody till June 28, he said.
