Drug peddler arrested in south Kashmir

A man, alleged to be a drug peddler, was today arrested along with 27 kilogrammes of Charas in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, police said.
Shabir Ahmad Shah, a resident of Panzgam village, was arrested on a specific information from Asthan Mohalla in Awantipora, 32 kms from here, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, a police spokesman said.
"Police laid a naka in the area following information about the movement of the peddler. He was intercepted and 27 kgs of Charas was recovered from his possession," the spokesman said.
He said a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the drug peddler.
