The electoral office in Gujarat has launched a month-long special electoral roll revision drive from July 1, before a final list is published in September, ahead of the assembly elections due later this year.
"We have launched a special drive for summary revision of electoral list till July 31. The drive includes a lot of other factors like addition of new booths -- we have added 1,900 new booths, taking total number of booths to 50,128," chief electoral officer B B Swain told PTI.
A final list will be published on September 25.

A voter can consult the booth level officer, or go to the state election commission website, use mobile phone SMS service and helpline number -- 1950 -- to check his electoral roll details, and fill in forms 6, 7, 8 and 8(A) to add, delete, correct, and transfer his name, respectively, as per his requirement.
"The one month period will also have three special drives on Sunday (July 9, July 16 and July 23)," Swain said.
The final voter list will be published on September 25, he said.
As part of the drive, voter list will be read out in special meetings of village council, resident welfare associations in the respective areas between July 7 and July 21, Ahmedabad collector Avantika Singh said.
As per draft voter list, Ahmedabad has a total 51,39,846 voters as on July 1.
Any person who attains the age of 18 on January 1, 2017, will be eligible to add his name in the list, she said.
"We have appointed designated officers and campus ambassadors across colleges in the district to carry out the drive to add the names of such youth to the voter list. A voter is required to check their names in electoral roll with booth level officer even if he has a voter card," she said.
