The Election Commission, which had issued a show-cause notice to magician-turned-BJP candidate from West Bengal's Barasat Lok Sabha seat P C Sorcar for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Mamata Banerjee, today received a report from the District Magistrate.
Joint CEO Jaydip Mukherjee said that they had received a report from the DM of North 24-Parganas district, and they were scrutinising it before taking the next course of action.
The DM, who is also the District Electoral Officer, had issued the show-cause notice to Sorcar day before yesterday on the basis of a complaint by TMC candidate from the seat Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, sources in the CEO's office said.
