The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is planning to begin a discreet probe into the recent Rs 8 crore heist in Delhi on suspicion of Hawala and money laundering dealings.

The agency, sources said, has not received any communication in this regard from the Delhi police till now but with the name of some bookies being reported to be involved in the alleged handling of this cash, the ED has taken notice.

Enforcement sleuths may later decide to register a regular money laundering case or a forex violations complaint after going through the initial police FIR.

The probe agency has been tracking some of the illegal payment and investment brokers in the national capital and other parts of north India and the agency has registered some complaints in this regard too.

The agency, sources said, could also ask the Delhi Police to share a copy of the FIR filed in this case.

The sensational robbery occurred in national capital two days back when armed people reportedly looted Rs 7.69 crore from a businessman named Rajesh Kalra and his associates in broad daylight near Lajpat Nagar Metro station.
